As we prepare for the launch of our new site, which has been a long time coming and greatly anticipated, at Day One Media we are turning our thoughts to our journey so far, and what brought us to where we are today. At this pivotal moment for us, we wanted to share our journey with you, and give you a little more insight into what Day One Media is all about.
The past 12 months in Day One Media’s history have been exhilarating, demanding and rewarding to say the least. We consistently set ourselves highly optimistic goals that have been hugely challenging to achieve, and we continue to push ourselves each and every day to work towards the vision that we have for the future.
To say that 2014 was a tough year is an understatement. Building and developing a business to be what you want it to be requires diligence, patience and a clear understanding of your goals and the processes needed to achieve them. Working in a small team can make you feel claustrophobic at times, and tensions can rise without warning, we are very critical of ourselves because of our desire to constantly improve. We constantly ask ourselves – “OK, this went well, but how could it be done better next time?”.
However, working in such a close-knit team allows us to form close relationships, built on honesty and trust. Every hurdle we’ve cleared is a true testament to the mental strength and passion of everyone at Day One Media. We have come up against many seemingly impossible problems, that we tackle head on, at every angle and our desire to become the best at what we do enables us to overcome anything that stands in our way.
Starting out in the creative industry is difficult for anyone, it doesn’t matter if you’re the best designer, the cleanest coder or have the smartest mind for business, it’s never going to be a smooth ride. Securing contracts is about more than a stunning portfolio (as we found out early on), it’s also about forming a strong relationship with your clients, which is something that has become fundamental in our core values as a business, and enables us to communicate our client’s values as much as our own.
We’ve come a long way, and this now leads us onto the website that you’re reading this post on at this very moment. 12 months without a website is a long time for any business, let alone a digital design agency. You may be wondering why it took us so long to make our own website, well, the best way we can explain this is for you to look at our portfolio, this is what we have been doing up until this point. We thought “why create a website that claims what we do, we should show it”.
2014 has been a strong year for us. 2015 – the climb continues.
